Pearl Clifton Obituary, Death – It is with a heavy heart that I share the news of the passing of Pearl F. Clifton, the esteemed past president of our beloved society. Pearl, who served as my predecessor, left us on Wednesday, January 10, 2024. Her departure is a profound loss for our community, and our thoughts and prayers are with her family during this difficult time.
Pearl’s commitment to the Amelia County Historical Society was unwavering, and she remained a dedicated member until the recent holidays. As a friend, she exemplified the true spirit of our organization, working diligently to preserve and promote our shared history. Her contributions were invaluable, and the impact of her legacy will resonate for years to come.
Funeral visitation will be held at Hillsman-Hix on Tuesday, January 16, from 2 pm to 4 pm. The memorial service to celebrate Pearl’s life will take place the following day at noon at Hillsman-Hix, with burial at the Virginia Veterans Cemetery in Amelia immediately afterward. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to Mt. Hope Baptist Church and/or the Amelia County Historical Society. This gesture will honor Pearl’s memory and support the causes that held a special place in her heart. As we reflect on Pearl’s enduring friendship and earnest dedication to our historical endeavors, let us come together to celebrate the life of a remarkable individual. May her legacy inspire us to continue the important work she began, preserving the rich history of Amelia County.
